1969 wird in Kloten ein Anschlag auf ein Flugzeug der El Al verübt, 1970 eine Swissair-Coronado über Würenlingen zum Absturz gebracht. Im selben Jahr werden drei Flugzeuge in die jordanische Wüste entführt und in die Luft gesprengt, darunter eine DC-8 der Swissair. Mit spektakulären Terroranschlägen trägt die Palästinensische Befreiungsorganisation (PLO) den Nahostkonflikt nach Europa und in die Schweiz. Die Politik, allen voran der Bundesrat, ist überfordert. Würenlingen ist das grösste Verbrechen in der jüngeren Schweizer Geschichte. Doch es wurde nie aufgeklärt, der Tatverdächtige nie gefasst. Was bisher nicht bekannt war: Ein einzelner Bundesrat führte - ohne Absprache mit seinen Amtskollegen - geheime Gespräche mit der PLO. Ein zweiter bekannter Politiker stellte den Kontakt her. Mit den Recherchen konfrontiert, schildert dieser erstmals, wie es zwischen der Schweiz und der PLO zu einem Stillhalteabkommen kam, das auf diplomatischer Ebene lange nachwirken sollte.
